Shoshone Point, Grand Canyon, April 2008

It may have taken me eight years to propose but I finally found the perfect location.

Shoshone Point at the Grand Canyon isn't advertised or sign-posted, as during summer months it can be booked exclusively for events. We walked for twenty minutes through a forest to this spot, early in the morning. A few people had just left, and then we were alone for a good hour until we left, not another person in sight. Tracy wondered why I kept asking her to stand on the rocky outcrop near the edge, until I bent down on one knee, forgot the verse I'd planned to say, and proposed. After an immediate "Yes", we fumbled the ring, it bounced off the rocks, and it took us a while to find it again thinking it had tumbled into the canyon below.
